Product Details

A time domain reflectometer cable fault locator finds a fault by timing the light it reflects: the instrument sends optical pulses and measures how long the backscatter and reflections take to return, converting time into distance-to-fault. This is the OTDR principle applied to fault location — and it is what lets a technician stand at one end of a long span and know, to the metre, where the break or high-loss event lies without walking the route.

Aevumix supplies time-domain-reflectometer-based cable fault locators for single-mode and multimode fiber. Beyond distance-to-fault, they map the events along the span — splices, connectors, bends — with their loss and reflectance, so a crew sees not just where the fault is but what it is. Managed dead zones resolve closely spaced events and results store for reporting, making the reflectometer locator both a fault finder and a link characterizer.

Because the right instrument depends on your span lengths, dead-zone and dynamic-range needs, we help you specify the correct unit. Send your spans and fiber types and we will recommend a reflectometer fault locator and provide a quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

It sends optical pulses and times the returning backscatter and reflections, converting time to distance. This gives distance-to-fault along a span from one end — the OTDR principle.

A reflectometer measures distance-to-fault and event detail over long spans; a visible-light locator makes near-end faults glow but has no distance readout. They are complementary.

Yes. It maps events — splices, connectors, bends — with loss and reflectance, so you see the nature of the fault as well as its location.

Yes. We supply reflectometer locators for both, including units covering both. Send your fiber types and spans for a recommendation.
